Accessibility

We want anyone to be able to browse Makester and buy a candle, whatever device they are on and however they use it.

What we are aiming for

We build this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We have not had an independent accessibility audit, so we do not claim we fully meet that standard. We would rather say so plainly than put a badge on the page.

What the site does today

• Pages use proper headings, lists and landmarks, so a screen reader can move through them in a sensible order.
• Product photographs carry text descriptions.
• Buttons, links and form fields are labelled and can be reached with a keyboard.
• Text stays readable when you zoom in, and the site is built for a phone as much as a desktop.

Where we know we fall short

Some colour combinations in our brand palette have lower contrast than we would like. Parts of the product page have not been tested with assistive technology. Both are on our list to fix rather than something we are going to quietly leave.

If something does not work for you

Tell us. We will fix it, and we will help you place your order in the meantime. There is no form to fill in and no ticket number. A person reads these.
